concrete table
The idea for the table top was simple. I made it long and narrow, like a farmers table, because we wanted it to allow for lots of people and intimate conversations. It sits over a metal and wood rolling table, which was too small for having meals on.
It has rebar support in it because of its length and thinness. It is 1.5" thick in center and 3" thick on the sides. It was cast with foam board on the bottom. This was done to reduce the weight and also to hide the smaller table top beneath it. An acetone stain was used to bring out color variation in the concrete. I constructed it all by myself.
